LipiFlow for dry eye

An in-office thermal pulsation system designed to heat and express obstructed meibomian glands.

What is LipiFlow?

LipiFlow is a thermal pulsation device used for meibomian gland dysfunction. It applies heat to the inner eyelid surface while gently massaging the outer eyelids.

How it works

Single-use applicators are placed over and under the eyelids. A treatment session warms and expresses the glands under clinician supervision.

Potential benefits

  • Improve meibomian gland secretion
  • Reduce evaporative dry eye symptoms for some patients
  • Treat gland obstruction in a controlled in-office session

Risks and limitations

  • Temporary discomfort, redness, irritation, or blurred vision may occur
  • It cannot restore glands that have already significantly atrophied
  • Benefits and duration vary
